Our Mission
Turtlebacks is a premium apparel brand for active young boys on and off the course. Founded by a mom of two sporty sons who love playing golf but hate wearing “golf pants,” Turtlebacks’ mission is to craft clothing that embodies comfort, performance, and confidence because we believe that when boys FEEL GOOD, they can PLAY HARD.
Our name was inspired by the infamous “turtleback” greens of Pinehurst, North Carolina, which have a distinct domed shape resembling the shell of a turtle. The innate toughness of a turtle shell, and the resilience of the turtle perfectly represent the durability of our pants, and the qualities that we seek to inspire in our young athletes who wear them.
Our Story
Turtlebacks was born after many frustrating years of trying to find “golf pants” for my young, active sons that looked sharp, fit properly, and didn’t lead to battle after battle trying to get them dressed. The market for men’s “wear everywhere” golf pants has taken off and I watched my husband buy pair after pair of comfortable pants for the course, yet my sons were stuck wearing traditional, ill-fitting, “hard pants.” Everything we tried was either too short, too big in the waist, too bulky, too itchy, stiff and uncomfortable, too thin, and the list goes on. After buying what felt like every pair of pants on the market, I decided to design my own. Being new to the world of fashion, I worked with a NYC-based fashion design and consulting agency to help design the perfect pair of pants that can be worn from the course to the clubhouse and everywhere in between. We spent over a year finding the best, high-quality performance fabrics, ensuring that the fit was just right and paying attention to every little detail that is often overlooked for boys’ apparel. The battle with my boys to wear pants has officially ended and I truly cannot get them to wear any other pants. I am so excited about what we’ve created and cannot wait to share them with you
